Donna's Humour Project

Here's my take on challenge #5- Humour.  I've made a center step card and used the fabulous 'Lucy Loo' Chilling at Home. I sat her on my new Sizzix chair die and embossing folder combo which I've cut out of Core'dinations CS and sanded. The sentiments are computer generated and cut with my new Spellbinders Labels 28.

Lucy is colored with Copics and I've added a crown brad to her head to match all the other royal references.  Thanks for the wonderful entries so far, but there's not much time left to enter our Humour Challenge so if you haven't, you better get crackin' or you'll miss out.

Crafting Vicky - Humour challenge project

Hello everyone!  I'm here to share with you a card that I did for the new challenge over at The East Wind Challenge.  Our challenge for you this time is Humour!  So it's time to share with us your twisted sense of humour or sarcasm or just plain funny :)

I used the great image Lucy Loo Heart Lips for my card and paired it with a sentiment from Ginger house.  I thought it was perfect for this and pretty humorous.

I used some paper from Rockstar stack by DCWV.  I added some chipboard from DCWV.  I added some Robin's nest dew drops.  I added a skull brad from eyelet outlet.  I also added another skull from my stash... yeah... I have a few lol

Here's a closer look at the digi that I colored with my copics.  I don't know why but she calls for me to use lots of pink in her hair!!!

Isn't she just fabulous?!  I really adore Lucy Loo she has such a great attitude to create edgier cards!!!

Hope you have liked this little card and you will be inspired to play with us!!!!!

Have a great crafting day!!!

Hugs

Challenge #5 Use Humour - Maureen's DT Project

Hi there fellow The East Wind Fans! We have a fabulous challenge on the go and would love for you to show us your sense of humour in your creation this fortnight - you can enter here!

Here is the card that I made using the fabulous Lucy Loo 'Love Me' image. I have to explain a bit about the sentiment! I live in Scotland and one of our most iconic drinks is 'Irn Bru' and they like to push the boundaries with their advertising. A few years ago the slogan 'Cheer Up Goth, Have an Irn Bru' was used and I wanted to do my take on it!
I have hand written the sentiment due to a lack of time but I think it works! I have coloured Lucy with Promarkers and used some blue papers from my stash to match.
The card is finished with some black organza ribbon and black card candi.

I am looking forward to seeing your sense of humour shine through on your creations for this challenge! Go on, make us laugh!

Challenge #5 Humour - Wiola's DT project

Here's my card for the humour challenge.

I made fun of the cliché to follow your dreams. The text is written with the Garden font and reads: "Follow your dreams... except for that one where you go to work naked/where you are being chased by black hairy spiders/where you are being trapped in a tiny box." You have dreams at night too, and many of those you probably shouldn't follow. Lol.

You can find the angel stamp that I've used here in the East Wind shop.

Why, yes...Art journal Spread for the Humour Challenge

Hello everyone! It's Bonnie here today with more details about my response to the new TEW challenge which  is Humour.  I decided to play in my art journal, creating a spread featuring Lucy Loo Being Lucy because I've been wanting to colour her for a while. Her fabulous attitude makes me smile. I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils giving her funky pink and yellow hair and purple lipstick. The little zipper teeth in her hair ornament were inked in with a Silver Jelly Roll pen for the shine. Lucy Loo was fussy cut, and the white edges were inked with a Black Big Brush pen. She was popped up on foam tape and set aside out of the range of my messy mixed media process.

The two journal pages were given a liberal coat of Studio 490 black embossing paste applied with a palette knife. While it was still wet, gauze pads were unfolded and then twisted or folded the long way. These were crisscrossed over the pages to mimic the look of Lucy Loo's wrappings in the image. Next, black zippers with silver metal teeth were also adhered across the pages. These are a reference to the zipper in Lucy's hair ornament. It also creates an edgy feel to the background which suits the image and the page concept.

The specimen labels and experiment log are downloads from Vectoria Designs...love her stuff! I had this vision of Lucy being created or re-created in a mad scientist's lab so the labels and log fit that notion.

The log was given extra kraft paper pages behind the cover and all were machine stitched to look more like a notebook.

The sentiments came next. Why yes,... comes from Create with TLC and I imagine Lucy pausing and saying that in answer to someone's silly question. Looking for trouble and Wanna play doctor were computer generated and printed on white cardstock which was torn or cut into fishtail flags and inked with Vintage Photo. All were popped up on foam tape.

To continue with the edgy look, I added more metal bits. The safety pins which I imagine the mad scientist keeps handy for gauze emergencies, the spider bead, the star sequins, and lens all help to scatter the metal about and lend continuity to the design. The resin hand and the bug under glass further the specimen theme.

At this point, Lucy's hair was the only pink on the page which created a jarring effect. I added the two pink mulberry roses along with the checked button to repeat the flower and button in her hair decoration and bring that bit of pink to the top and right. The small metal arrow was given three small pearls before it was added to the bottom of the page, completing the visual triangle. A little doodling on the one set of sentiments, some scattered dot stamping on the paper elements, and the pages were complete. A little dark humour to start your day...lol.

We would love to see your humourous projects and hope that you'll join us for TheEastWind Challenge 5. Thanks for visiting today.

TEW Challenge #4 with Donna Mundinger

It's Donna posting here today with details of my card for the current Use a Sentiment Challenge.  The DT has used the adorable Aurora Easter Egg Hunt which is available FREE for signing up for the TEW newsletter.  Just look for the big  hot pink banner on the right side of the Challenge page, fill in your info and you will receive this adorable image for FREE.  And there's a new one for each month, Woohoo!

I've used my Cricut to make a "Panoramic Egg" card for this adorable image. It reminds me of the decorative hollowed out sugar eggs I had as a child with the fun scenes inside.

I printed her several times, colored her with Copics, flocked her jammies and bunny and layered her for dimension.  I've used MS punches for the grass and fence and a Cuttlebug die for the computer generated sentiment.

Stay tuned for our new Challenge on the 15th but remember, Aurora Easter Egg Hunt will be available  through April 30th.

Susan's Challenge #4 Closeup

Good morning everyone!!! Our theme is to Use A Sentiment.  Here is what I came up with using the new East Wind freebie.. isn't she gorgeous!!!  Kyra is so generous!!!

I am always so disappointed when I try to go more simple LOL  I just don't think I pull that off. But I gave it a shot. And I hate this card LOL!! I used several different ribbons, netting that you use to make a tutu that I got from the fabric store.. this one is pink. I have a lot of colors.. and how fun is that!  I added the layered flower with the pearl in the middle.. a little netting in the middle of layered flower as well. I colored the awesome image with Copic and layered just a bit of it. I layered the bunny, the basket and the ribbon around her head. The last thing was the stamped sentiment.

Copic:
  • Pink Ribbon and Pajamas:  RV11, RV32, RV34
  • Blue on Pajamas and Socks: B0000, B00, B01
  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13
  • Basket and Hair: E31, E34, E35, E37, E39
  • Eyes: YG01, YG05, YG09

I've added Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks to the edges. My sentiment comes from a sheet of 'Easter' themed rub-ons and I thought it was perfect with this image!

I've coloured the image using Promarkers and fussy cut her, popped her on some 3D foam for dimension. The card is finished with some Die-namics swirls with platinum Liquid Pearls.

I hope you'll join our challenge!

You can subscribe by clicking the little button on the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog if you don't get the newsletter already!!

I absolutely loved working with her and she inspired me to make a circle side step card. You can find a tutorial for that over here. I used a grand nestabilities die to make the shape for this card and picked up some leftover DP's from stash to work with. My flowers are from WOC and North Star Stamps. My lace is also from WOC and I used a Cheery lynn dies to make the background doily in purple.

Aurora Easter Egg Hunt is coloured with both promarkers and graph it markers (the greens) and my sentiment is a freebie that I have found on my friend Annette's blog over here.

And a little closeup

Aurora Easter Egg Hunt Goes Mixed Media!

Hi everyone! It's my chance to share my DT project created for the TEW April 1 Challenge with this month's fabulous freebie, Aurora Easter Egg Hunt. if you subscribe to the newsletter, you have already received her with the April 1 edition. If not, you can subscribe by clicking the little button on the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog. I love this adorable image and she became the inspiration for my "E is for Eggs" Altered Dictionary page. Aurora was coloured with Prismacolor pencils, fussy cut with a narrow white border, and then matted with a narrow black one. I often do this when my background is busy in order to give the image more weight and allow it to contrast with the background. Aurora was popped up on foam tape to give her added dimension and let the viewer know that she is the star of the spread.

The dictionary, a thrift store find, has a two page spread for each letter (almost)...not quite finished yet. The pages are glued to the ones next to them and covered with gesso to tone down the text, give strength to the pages, and make them stand up to the many different media I throw on them. On this spread, I used watercolour crayons, gelatos, big brush pens, stencilling, and stamping. I also fussy cut some wonderful egg images from Tumble Fish Studios so that Aurora would have lovely companions. No wonder she is "eggcited"" !

The two sentiments come from Create With TLC and seem to suit the pages perfectly. A little washi tape, some doodling, and rub ons, and Aurora and I declared the pages finished :) Look at how happy she looks in her new setting.

I hope you will join in the current challenge, Use a Sentiment, on TheEastWind blog. The theme is Use a Sentiment and there are already some fabulous entries. If you stay tuned to this blog, you will see each of the DT projects... inspiration galore. You are welcome to use any image but if you use one of Unky's fabulous images from her Etsy store, you get a second chance to win because you can link once to your post and a second time to your blog.

Thanks for visiting. I hope we see you in the thumbnails!
