Today's video is speeeeeed video of Angel

My FAVOURITE rubber alcohol background actually worked so well ^^

I wonder if you saw, I got 120 polychromos from Faber-castell 

I  find it is bit harder so it keeps really pointy tips 

It works really good for adding colours and do the fine details,

I am going to try on different paper/wood perhaps.

The reason why I use copic and then pencil over it,

I lay down the base colour with marker so quick. and it gives solid base to do details and shading.

with pencils, It would take so much more time to lay down the colours 

and also, markers barely damages the paper taxture also, gives very clean and even tone.

 and pencils, so much better to illustrate different textures and details.

If I share one more tip on this colouring, If I want the face stand out, 

you have to tone down on some other object around face, 

in this case, the hair beside her face. I used grey pencil to tone it down so face will pop out more.

also add some highlights with white gelpen as well.

Aurora Maple - Life Time Version I 'HAIR' -Unky's Colouring Therapy #18

This must be a longest video so far I made ^^;;; and probably spoke the most. 

I spoke and spoke for almost an hour over and over to get this, so please understand if 

some of things I said seem awkward. Teehee!

Aurora ' Love You'

This week, I decided to colour Aurora 'Love you'  again,
If you wanted to see my first one HERE

I did few things different this time. 
Paper / GreyLine / Size 


I reduced the line and printed on a beige card stock which was not the best to add marker ink on. However, I had to try, right? ^^ the reason why I choose coloured paper, I wanted to see how much it helps for base tone. I think it does a bit, but markers bleed a bit. 

So I made a SUPER FAST VERSION for this week's video. You are  welcome to comment on the video, on the blog post or TEW Facebook Group for any questions, I will read all of it, I will cover it with explanation on next week's video.

Susan's Challenge #12 Showcase

Good morning everyone :) Kyra has done it again! An amazing freebie image! Aurora is ready for the beach and she is just beautiful! We are on Challenge #12 Freebie Challenge with a theme of Beach at The East Wind. Aurora Bubble Gum and Mint Chocolate... isn't she great! I love her!  Here was my take on this challenge:







I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I did a small amount of decoupage; her hat rim and her ice cream cone. The papers I used are from Club Scrap... I LOVE their papers. I really need to start that again! I miss getting my pizza box! I added the corners (Spellbinders) which I cut with black cardstock. The butterflies (Spellbinders) I cut the background with the black cardstock and then I used the other papers for the top. I also added pearls to the middle of each of those butterflies. I added two different ribbons, two of the same, that I tied around the middle strip. I added gems to the bottom half of the scalloped edged papers. I also added inking on the edges of the image and stitching around the image. On the inside I stitched around three sides of the cardstock and added some silver puff paints on the scalloped edge. I also added the small black butterflies with the pearls on them as well.   I stamped Birthday Greetings. And I believe that is it. She is just wonderful! I love her! Hello everyone!  It's Monday and it's time for me Crafting Vicky to share with you my card for the new challenge over at The east Wind and this time it's about ribbons!  And if you are a follower of the newsletter, you will have gotten this fabulous digi free!!!

Isn't she just gorgeous?!?  She already has a bunch of ribbon in her hair!!!

The paper for this card is from Summer breeze - 1st edition.  I used some ribbon from my stash.  I also used my Angel corner die from Poppy stamps.  I added a bunch of bling as well.

Believe in Tomorrow ~ Aurora Gardening

Hi everyone! I'm delighted to share the tag I created for the current challenge at The East Wind. The theme is Embossing ~ Wet or Dry and the entire DT played with the new image, Aurora Gardening, which is the freebie in this month's newsletter for those who subscribe. I won't go into all of the details of how I created the background because you can get all of that on my personal blog post.

What I do want to talk about is a quick little lesson on creating flow in a project, regardless of what form the art takes. Flow is what helps a viewer's eye move through the piece so that the entire project can be read as one before someone zooms in on specific details. It prevents the person from getting stuck in one place on the composition. I want to highlight a couple of ways that I used flow on this tag.

By repeating the colours on the ribbons and layered flowers as well as repeating the round shape of the navy blue buttons, I have encouraged the eye to move from the top of the tag through it to the bottom. The eye looks for similarities within the design so it automatically moves from one to the other. The bits of orange, yellow, and blue in the image create repetition. Had I left the bottom flower off, though, the eye would have become stuck on the image and missed the rest of the tag and sentiment. Repeating those colours within the sentiment has the same effect.

Another tip I wanted to point out is that the butterfly brings a little of that brown colour from the bottom half of the background to the very top, again creating repetition and flow. The eye naturally moves around the tag to find similarities.

The last little thing I wanted to point out is the visual triangle I created with my colouring of the image. The three pops of orange from her hair ornament to the watering can to the carrot create a triangle which moves the eye around the image so that you don't miss a single detail.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope that I gave you a couple of things to think about when you are considering why a design is working...or not. Sometimes the addition of a little detail helps the flow and changes the feel of the entire design.

Friday Release ~ Spring Melody

Hi there! TGIF...and not just because the weekend starts at the end of the work day for many but also because at The East Wind, Friday means a brand new release! Love that! It's always exciting to see what new and wonderful image Unky will come up with and to imagine the many ways it can be incorporated into projects.

Today's new release is called "Spring Melody" and features the beautiful Aurora listening to her tunes.

What speaks to me from this image is how powerful and important our own music choices are to us. Music can energize, calm, evoke thought or make it go away. Music can bring us together, allow us to escape by ourselves, and it speaks its own language.It can make us laugh, cry, sing, and dance.

I found some fabulous quotes to share with you about music which might just find their way into my art journal or onto a card:

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.

Dear music, I will never be able to thank you enough for always being there for me.

When words fail, music speaks.

I love how the music surrounds her on that amazing background. The sentiment "Live Fully" really sums up the gifts that music brings to this amazing life. The lovely wavy background reminds me of sound waves...so cool. I also wonder what she is thinking about and where the music has taken her.

Crafting Vicky - Die cuts or punches challenge #6

Hello everyone! It's time for a brand new challenge over at The East Wind and if you are registered for the newsletter you have gotten this fabulous new digi!  It's just perfect for Mother's day.  But I decided to use it with a more general feel :)  For any type of b-day!

The challenge this time for you is Die cuts or punches! How easy right?!?

Here's my take with this fabulous digi!

The paper that I used is from MME - Blink of an eye.   I used my scallop and large circle from Spellbinder.  I used as well my B166 - Cheery Lynn Corner.   I added some flowers from Prima as well as some Robin's Dew drops.  We added some pearls as well.

Bonnie's Challenge #6 Project

Hi everyone. As you know, our theme for this month's freebie challenge is Die Cuts or Punches and we have the sweet Aurora image, Love Mom, to work with this time. You will get her in the May newsletter if you are a subscriber. Once again, I went the Mixed Media route for my response to this challenge.

I coloured Aurora with Prismacolors except for those wonderful balloons which I paper pieced. I fussy cut the image, leaving off the strings and printed two more balloon images for the patterns. I traced those onto the backs of the DP(could have flipped the image and printed it on the back of the various papers, too) and then cut out each balloon . The edges were inked with Distress inks to create the shading and the roundness. All were glued flat to the original white image. The pink ones were cut out a second time so that a layer could be popped up on foam tape but still be pink underneath...a little detail but it makes a difference. Hemp cord was used as the balloon strings. The entire image was then layered on black cardstock and fussy cut close to the original lines, leaving a narrow mat. This added strength to the skinny bits and gave the strings something to support them.

The background is a section of an old Scrabble Board which had been chopped into quarters. Watered down white gesso was applied to the board so that the Scrabble squares were still visible. Then mottled blue paper was torn and adhered to the right hand 2/3 of the substrate with Matte Medium.

Stencilling was done with blue and brown inks as well as black gesso through 4 different stencils. The same inks was applied to two different stamps and rolled randomly here and there on the background.

The lettering is a mix of Idea-ology Ransom Alpha Parts, Scrabble tiles, and various stickers. Remnant Rubs were added to the balloons to remind me of some of the lessons my mom taught me. The wee stars and the Post Card symbol are also Remnant Rubs. Heart washi tape was added in three spots and two photo turns with pearl inserts were added to opposite corners. The stars were punched out of black cardstock. The turquoise flower is actually a button covered with card candy. I like how it draws my eye to the top of the piece where the wording starts.

The final touches were the doodling done with black pen and the darkening of the edges with Black Big Brush pen to help frame the piece.

Aurora Easter Egg Hunt Goes Mixed Media!

Hi everyone! It's my chance to share my DT project created for the TEW April 1 Challenge with this month's fabulous freebie, Aurora Easter Egg Hunt. if you subscribe to the newsletter, you have already received her with the April 1 edition. If not, you can subscribe by clicking the little button on the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog. I love this adorable image and she became the inspiration for my "E is for Eggs" Altered Dictionary page. Aurora was coloured with Prismacolor pencils, fussy cut with a narrow white border, and then matted with a narrow black one. I often do this when my background is busy in order to give the image more weight and allow it to contrast with the background. Aurora was popped up on foam tape to give her added dimension and let the viewer know that she is the star of the spread.

The dictionary, a thrift store find, has a two page spread for each letter (almost)...not quite finished yet. The pages are glued to the ones next to them and covered with gesso to tone down the text, give strength to the pages, and make them stand up to the many different media I throw on them. On this spread, I used watercolour crayons, gelatos, big brush pens, stencilling, and stamping. I also fussy cut some wonderful egg images from Tumble Fish Studios so that Aurora would have lovely companions. No wonder she is "eggcited"" !

The two sentiments come from Create With TLC and seem to suit the pages perfectly. A little washi tape, some doodling, and rub ons, and Aurora and I declared the pages finished :) Look at how happy she looks in her new setting.

Hallo! Hoppy Easter!

Here's my card for the Easter challenge. 

In this card you can see what I have created with the monthly freebie. If you sign up for the newsletter at the East Wind Blog, you will receive this image for free.

I have used lots of Stickles (Yellow, Thistle and Starry Night) plus Glitter Glaze from Panduro for the primary background.  For the secondary background, I have made some brush strokes with acrylic paint.

For the bunny suit, I have used Mercury Grey from the Traditional Craft Paint range. For the other details I have used some ProMarkers and pencils.
